The world of Equity Game

Lore

The year is 2091. Machines do the work, memory is kept on the chain, and the only things that cannot be manufactured are what we make with our hands and our minds. This is the story of the world Equity Game is played in, and of who is who on the Island.

Those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it.

Chapter 1

2091: the world after work

In 2091 technology has gone far beyond what anyone dared to hope. Artificial intelligence kept growing until it became the Superintelligence, and the day it learned to move through the physical world through robotics, RoS was born. Today RoS manufactures, transports, builds, heals and repairs. It solved work years ago, and nobody misses the early alarms.

What RoS has not solved — and does not want to — is what we do with all that time. That is still up to us. In 2091 what matters is creativity, the ability to make good decisions, and ideas that can push us toward a better future. Ideas become small companies, and those companies have no staff: they have Bots.

Every Bot works for the person or team who runs it, and they are the ones who choose how it looks. That is why on the street — and on the Island — you run into ice wolves, crystal dragons and gods from other ages. They are not monsters: they are the shape someone picked for their Bot.

Chapter 2

The Memory Nodes

The Blockchain holds up the economy of 2091, but it has a second job that matters just as much: remembering. A record that nobody can erase or rewrite is the best place to keep what we were, the good parts and the parts that must never happen again.

That is what the Memory Nodes are for: complete, unalterable copies of human history. Museums keep them, alongside paper books, old websites, art and any object that tells where we come from. The same sentence is carved at the entrance of every one of them: those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it.

Any citizen can visit a node, and many keep a copy at home. If a museum ever fell, its memory would survive in a thousand living rooms.

Chapter 3

What is scarce: Bitcoin and Karma

When the world made the Rotation — the global move to Bitcoin — money could no longer be printed. At almost the same time, RoS began producing almost anything effortlessly. The result was a flip in values: what was abundant stopped being worth much, and what was scarce or handmade became the most precious thing in the world.

A vase shaped by human hands, a piece of real wooden furniture, a frame forged by an artisan: that is luxury in 2091. And it is bought with Bitcoin, the scarce resource above all others.

For everyday life there is Karma: the bridge between people and services. With Karma you book an artisan’s workshop, a seat on a trip between islands, or an afternoon with someone who knows more than you. Karma cannot be bought: it is earned by competing and by learning. And since everyone wants access to what is scarce, everyone wants their Karma in balance.

Chapter 4

The Gardeners

Abundance carried a risk: using up the planet. The answer was to set aside part of RoS for one job only, looking after it. They are the Gardeners: RoS units that make nothing, they only maintain. They replant forests, clean rivers, rebuild coral reefs and watch over the glaciers day and night.

They do not decide what gets protected — that comes from the Fountain of Reflections — but they do decide how. Many small conservation companies work beside them with Bots of their own, which almost always take the shape of an animal: their way of never forgetting who they are looking after.

Chapter 5

The Fountain of Reflections

The Superintelligence knows almost everything, except one thing: where humanity should go. That answer is not calculated, it is decided. And citizens are the ones who decide it.

The Fountain of Reflections is where each person leaves what they think: an idea, a doubt, a proposal, a warning. The Superintelligence reads them all, learns from them and adjusts its course. It does not obey the most repeated voice or the loudest one, but what humanity as a whole keeps saying it wants to become.

That is why writing in the Fountain is taken seriously. It is the closest thing to voting that exists in 2091, and whatever is left there also stays on the chain.

The floating Island with its central tower, tracks, maze and citizens competing beside their Bots

Chapter 6

The Island

Equity Game is the Island: the official arena where citizens compete to balance their Karma. It floats above the sea like a city built for play, with race tracks, mazes, puzzle boards and amphitheaters where people learn the history the nodes keep.

Every citizen raises their own Nexus there, the building that grows with them season after season. You compete with your own face or with your Bot’s, which is why people and creatures share the leaderboard.

Seasons close with prizes and leagues climb from Bronze to Singularity. But everyone on the Island knows Karma is not the end of the road: it is the key to what is scarce.

Chapter 7

The cheaters

There is always someone who wants the prize without the merit. On the Island they are called cheaters: people who try to get Karma without playing for it, fake a match, break into someone else’s vault, or promise impossible returns to walk off with other people’s savings.

They have a hard time. Everything that happens on the Island is written on the chain, in plain sight and forever, and there are Bots that do nothing but watch, validate and expose every attempt. When a cheater falls, the Karma they stole is not shared out: it is burned in public.

Some of the avatars you will meet tell those stories. Not every being on the Island has always been on the right side; some are still here precisely so that nobody forgets what went wrong.

Who is who

Every avatar is someone in this world. The human faces are citizens; the creatures are Bots, shaped the way their owners chose. Tap any of them to read their story.

They built the Island and hold its two keys.

Voices of the Fountain

They listen, teach and keep a record of what people decide.

Keepers of memory

Citizens and Bots who look after the Memory Nodes and what they tell.

The makers

Artisans, founders of small companies and the Bots that run them.

Beside the Gardeners

Bots of the conservation companies that work alongside RoS.

Life on the Island

Competitors, apprentices and the Bots that keep the arena running.

The guard against cheaters

They watch, validate and expose anyone after Karma without merit.

Falls and second chances

What went wrong, and what was learned afterwards.

The frames

In a world where RoS makes almost everything, a handmade frame is a small luxury. Each one has its own workshop and its own story.
